Re: Old Stove ID.

The lid seals as long as you don't loose the seal washer you have to set to one side while it's in priming mode.

They dispense too slow for me - always end up with dings from me impatiently squeezing! These were standard issue with Vapalux/Bialaddin British milspec kero lamps.

Re: Old Stove ID.

Sorry for the late replies. What pot do you use with the Caldera Cone system? What is a "Forsvarets" blikkanne med helletut that is listed on this site(bottom of page): http://uniflamesupply.no/opt_tur_tilbeh.htm I use the AGG 850ml pot. The item shown on that website is an alcohol priming can for t...

Re: I.V. Stove

I sometimes get frustrated with the burn time on most alcohol burners (Turms excepted) when I want to cook a couple of courses followed by a mug or 2 of tea. I'm probably too clumsy to use on of these new remote fuel supplied burner. My solution (that we are often told NOT to do) is to fill the stov...

Re: Old Stove ID.

Good to read you have the real deal as well! I was saddened to read that Outward Bound in the UK, who've used Trangia's for years have started to see windshields melting. A sign of the times that the materials aren't what they used to be? Here's some old, not so old & recent models: L-R; 80's 27-6K ...

Re: zelph's humble collection

Thats interesing - No:4. It has a round wick in the burner? First time I've seen a miniture version of what used to be a common system, especially in the USA, of gravity feed kerosene stoves. The fuel container would usually be glass. The instructions for the Safety Chef are here . Interesting thing...

Re: zelph's humble collection

Well 2 have their names on - the Vulcan I got too! Don't know the 4th one - looks like a catering alcohol stove or warmer?

I may try the Safety Chefs pans with a Svea 123.

Do you reckon that's asbestos inside?

Haven't fired mine yet - should be easy to do with some alcohol gel & a boot polish tin.

Re: Henry Shires Scarp 1

I'll look up the Starlyte but my worries are about spilling my chow - not the fuel! ;)

She's calming down as she gets older (now 13 months).

Henry Shires Scarp 1

Anyone used one yet? Any feedback? I reallly like my Contrail but use the Hilleberg Akto in the winter months. I like the look of the Scarp & without the extra poles it comes in a bit lighter than Akto but still gives me 'full metal jacket' with the addition of the extra poles for a slight penalty o...

Re: New member from UK

I'll certainly be glad to help naming any stoves if I can. I'm a bit of a refugee from Outdoorsmagic - been a long time member but infrequent poster but glad you've enjoyed it. There is some good stuff on the site but I always felt like most of the time I was eavesdropping on someones IM conversation.

Re: New member from UK

I am lucky - it's our loft room. It doubles as a spare bedroom & my computer room. I like to keep it all 'hidden away' - just my character - I wouldn't want the stuff all around the house & people coming in saying "do you collect stoves?". My partner is a diamond. When I was doing the loft room out ...
