Re: Alcohol don't burn in cold weather.
Does it have a name? Which stove was it? What kind of pot did you use? You'll have to ask Skids the name. I think that he might call it an Open-Style TTII. It has a small insert that you replace after filling. I kind of cheated on the pot. It's a JetBoil GCS pot with the heat exchanger. The extra w...

Re: Alcohol don't burn in cold weather.
I carry a ~1 oz squeeze bottle in my pocket with alcohol in it and use it for the meal at hand. Especially in the wickatized stove that Skids sent me, it lights right up! It's interesting to hear that other burners work well with the cone design. The caldera cone makers say only their burner works with the caldera. They may say that now, but they told me in May of '06 that the main qualification was a stove that burned for 10 minutes on 1/2 ounce of alcohol under th...

Re: Down filled comforter/quilt
Absolutely true about front-loaders working well. I've used a down bag since late '04, and it has been washed 3-4 times per year with no problems. I also use the "3 tennis ball" trick while drying. I use 25 cents (8 minutes) at the laundromat on medium heat, then 50 cents on low heat, and it's perfe...
