Re: Heineken Pot

The can and the lid are actually two separate pieces held together with epoxy and a metal band. If you file the top edge of the lid, you can get the lid to separate. You can practice this on pop cans until you perfect your technique and then try on the Heineken can as Daren suggested. I have also do...

Re: Stove shootout....

BrokenAeroVT 5 months ago It takes about 3 minutes to get that damn Whisperlight started. Had one--what a pain, The Butane stoved start right away. No comparison. The Trangia went out because you need a pot stand for it. It's not a sideburner like a B&%s or Supercat. The cold of the cup quench...

Re: Stove shootout....

They put the cup on the Trangia directly. The stove had it's simmer ring on but open. However the stove is top jetted so without a pot stand the cup is just a snuffer

Re: New Walmart Backpack

Some years ago, when pup tents were still in style, I was camping with my dad in one near Yellowstone on a wet windy night. The rear pole fell and one of us had to go out and reset it. After this was about to happen for the third time we finally figured out that the tent wall was kicking it out from...

Re: The heavy weight stove or oven

Nice job Oops. I like how you get a lot of features into an affordable package. Especially the little things like pot hammock and your shadow peg to help aim towards the sun. Neat to see.

Thanks for sharing 8-)

Re: Windscreen impact on stove perfromance

It appears to me that the different heights change the surface area of the stove that is exposed to radiant heat. The higher position appears to be a cooler flame perhaps because the stove is not getting as much heat radiated back into the stove thus reducing the rate of alcohol vaporization.

The local chains QFC and Fed Meyer were both purchased by Kroger a few years back. A QFC rewards card or gift card works just as well at Fred Meyer as it does QFC. I pref...

Re: Battery Operated Wood Stove

That stove looks interesting but is seems to blow a lot of ash around as the wood is consumed. Does the whole thing melt down if the battery dies or disconnects when fully stoked?

Re: The Warp One stove

FYI, The mantle in a gas lantern is there because it is coated with materials that are incandescent and will emit white light when heated properly. The mantle itself is emitting the light, not the flame. The light from the flame is overpowered by the incandescent light. Coleman lanterns have shaped ...
