Re: Small Rocket Stove
There's a picture that I should have taken snd posted, but alas, I didn't. That picture would show the entry to the feed tube. In the feed tube there's a shelf that does allow air to come in under the "fuel rods." The feed tube is 2" in diameter, rather limiting the amount of fuel that can be put in...

Small Rocket Stove
So it's an addiction. You guys know what I'm talking about... So here's the latest. When I was scouring the net for information and design ideas before building the tent heating woodstove a few months ago http://www.bplite.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=882&start=20#p26113 , I ran across a bunch of referen...

Re: 2 Bucks Left - What food would you buy
Bag of rice.
There's a reason that rice is the staple food of most of the world. It's cheap, filling, and relatively nutritious. Ok, that's 3 reasons.
A bag of dried beans (love beans!) would run a close second.

Re: bear bagging
That's why I like camping with non-habituated bears. These bears all understand that I look at them the same way they look at my food. I like that one :D Is it true that bear liver is poisonous? Poisonous? Haven't heard that. It is supposed to be VERY high in colesterol, though. Most cardiologists ...

Re: bear bagging
OUR bears must be smarter than YOUR bears... . That's probable. Good chance your bears are smarter than me. ;) There is one one part of the Adirondacks where bear "regulation" canisters are required, that being the High Peaks. If memory serves me right, and sometimes it doesn't, there are onl...

Re: Pot Stands
How did you cut and shape it? My metalworking tools and skills are pretty limited. Skills being the more limited of the two. I'm a hack working in my basement. Just about everything I've ever made has been fab'd with no more than hand drills, hack saws, files, and a bench vice. It gets the job done...

Re: bear bagging
It's not exactly a bear bag, but this is what I use when back packing. It's just a one gallon salad dressing container from the school cafeteria where my wife works. (All these years of having naughty librarian fantasys and I end married to the cafeteria lady ;) ) http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/...
