Open Jet Stove.

Just a stove i made, based on the Pepsi G design, has 8 1mm holes, and runs on 90% alcohol, I'm getting sub 5 min boils (500ml) so its not to bad, trying to tweak the stove some more. I am however still working on the windscreen. The one i have burns sooty in ambient air, and pretty well with a fan ...

Re: new UL Canister Burner project

The JetBoil jet is 0.21mm, Got the info from the company, but not much else, was gonna try and hustle them to send me a stove so i can see for myself, I have also considered a torch like that, its just the valve that is a bit inconvenient as you have to rotate the body, I like little knobs and wheel...

Re: new UL Canister Burner project

OK. That makes sense. They both (large and small) START out at the same pressure, but since evaporation has a cooling effect, and there is less mass of fluid in the smaller container, the fluid temperature drops more rapidly in the smaller one - thus reducing the pressure more rapidly. The apparent...

Re: new UL Canister Burner project

I'm not sure I understand that - vapor pressure is vapor pressure. It does not really depend upon volume, just temperature. The farther above the boiling point, the higher the vapor pressure. My thoughts were always that, because of the smaller size it has less pressure as the volume of gas and the...

Re: new UL Canister Burner project

Well allow me to clarify, by low pressure, I mean the large butane canister. for filling lighters. I found with the smaller refills the pressure drops very quickly. Vibe is the refill similar to the one below. http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk80/seudo411/th_DSC00071.jpg The pressure on these are...

Re: new UL Canister Burner project

That makes sense Zelph, I have found a maintenance kit for the Jetboil stove, it includes a jet,O-rings and piezoelectric igniter. So i have been thinking of buying it, and using the jet. One last stumbling block though, what could i use to attach the jet to the gas tube. gonna use a metal ink refil...

Re: new UL Canister Burner project

Darren, If i understand correctly, Annealing is the same as throwing springs in the fire to remove the temper. I found some tubing called Macroline, its used for carrying high pressure gas, up to about 4000psi in paintball guns. It is also resistant to high temperatures so that much is sorted. One l...

Re: new UL Canister Burner project

Started tinkering with gas again, just wanted to know, Is 3.8mm internal diameter hose, suitable for gas applications. or is it to large. And what size jet is good for using, pure butane gas. The way i see it the difference between the normal blends (80/20 ) and 100% is not that much to make a diffe...
