Re: Alcohol simmering through my jets!

I like stoves with jets. But I believe a wick wold help or the jets being further away from the alcohol level. Really its hard to say exactly without knowing what you are working with.

Re: Stanley Cookpot

I picked one up today. The tab on top of the lid is held on with a metal pin. I used a punch to push it out easily. I'll start playing with it soon.

Re: new to my pot collection

The simmer is a kinda fluid thing. I use it more than I thought I would but less on stuff I thought I would need it for. The problem I think one would have with making a mark is that it all really depends on the area you're in. The heat out put at a given point is going to be different here at about...

Re: new to my pot collection

The clone I made was very usable but over time it ended up in a box I keep retired homemade stuff in. The real one is still alive and well. It has received a couple dents that I could fix but has held up really well. Its still in one of my packs right now. The simmer is more useful than I thought it...

Re: new to my pot collection

I got one made of ti a while back. It was a cheaper one, I just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I like having it on stand by personally. There are some areas around here that are rougher than others and you need to do a few drop downs of a few feet. When I go on those trails I always brea...

new to my pot collection

I picked up a snow peak 700 with a lid on sale at a local outfitter for $30 because the mesh bag that was with it was torn. I dont mind not having the bag for that price new besides it looks like it can be fixed. Thats not the best part though. When i pulled out the box of pots i have to put the one...

Re: canvas tent info

Looking into it I may be able to use thinner canvas. That would cut down on folded packing size and weight some. I'm still working on it.

Re: WOOHOO!

I wish it was me working on that. I have had the stuff to work on a project like that for a couple years now but every time I pull it out something else comes up. I'll get around to it someday. You Res looks like its coming along well. Nice work!

Re: canvas tent info

The stove idea may be on the back burner for now. Im starting a search for something else to make the body of the stove out of. I have a good idea of what i want out of it but i dont think the material i have will handle it as well as i want. Im starting to think the metal may be too thin. Im still ...
