Re: FireMug in Alcohol mode

Thanks, the 1/4"SS is a pain to work with. It has been interesting to see how many bottles, cans, lids, etc are identical in size. I now have three different types of small (16oz or less) cups that all have the same neck size. The diam. of the base on the Cobalts, etc. is the same exact size. The op...

Re: DIY tent stove entry

I am going to try and make one in the vertical configuration like yours RR. I am trying to decide whether to put the flue in the top or on the side as high as I can mount it. Yours seems to draft well but I would love to have the whole top as a cook surface. My stainless container is 8" diameter by ...

Helluva nice design. Many well thought out details. What did you cut your stainless with?

Re: DIY tent stove entry

I like this stove a lot. Really great thinking on the damper design. I have a set of nesting cylindrical stainless medical containers with one great big one that I would like to try this vertical design with. I am totally new to tent stoves and will have to study up on flue designs, etc. and how to ...

Re: FireMug in Alcohol mode

Ive never tried the Esbit. It seems like it would work pretty well in here though. I have been using this same configuration for alcohol for a while now. The jets on the Cobalt make a nice narrow flame that stays off the neck of the cone. A Starlyte stove or other small center flame stoves would als...

Re: Homemade backpack 1-3/4lb/2600ci

RG, great job on the pack, the purifier and especially the shelter. You have been busy. I am envious of your sewing skills. On the pack, regarding the load lifter, do they terminate right at the seam at the top of the pack? I want to add some to my frameless pack. Still trying to figure out where to...
