Re: 35 miles of day hikes in Olympic National Park...

From the information you provided, realtyguy, I think the problem was there was or just had been a huge storm out in the ocean not reported in our weather report. How is anyone going to know that, unless the weather reports further out in the ocean. At home I look at the Pacific Ocean and, in partic...

Re: 35 miles of day hikes in Olympic National Park...

Exaggerated...

Cobalt Blue Soloist 1

I received my Cobalt Blue Soloist 1. It is a little jewel. I think I will get 200-proof alcohol for it: I don't want to clog the little holes with yellow Heet. Is there a way to clean the stove after using yellow Heet? This is my first Zelph stove with the copper strip. It preheats? I have another q...

Re: 35 miles of day hikes in Olympic National Park...

I thought you had said it was considered unsafe, not that you couldn't get anyone to hike with you. It wasn't slippery rocks or boulders, it was the entire beach of hand palm size black rocks that moved out with a roar with each outgoing wave and roared in with each incoming wave. I got thru it, hig...

Re: small wood stoves for "hunter's tents"

That is true of all tipi-style shelter.

It is the reason for a tipi half-liner "dew cloth".

In fact, all tarps and tents can get condensation.

Re: small wood stoves for "hunter's tents"

Hiking in Finland has a review of the Khufu tipi.

Here is their website: http://locusgear.com/?lang=en

If you convert the currency and if you get free shipping, you do well.

I like the Khufu in cuben.

Re: 35 miles of day hikes in Olympic National Park...

I thought you said there was treacherous beach there, so you didn't hike that stretch of beach. The PNT Pacific Northwest Trail is getting "attention" because Chris Townsend hiked it, and now, Pacific Northwest Trail Digest has been published. Backpacker Magazine also has highlighted sceni...

I hope he shows up.

I am looking at the map.

I hiked the Sandy trail out from Lake Ozette, south to Rialto Beach.
