Re: origami mess kit

I've been working on my Caldera Clones recently, and since packability is such an issue, I'm surprised there aren't more 'folding cone' designs out there. Or should I just play around with wood stove designs? Anyway, we oughta get the Japanese working on it.

Re: origami mess kit

You're right, I think after a while they'd get a bit worn at the fold marks, and maybe the tabs wouldn't hold their positions very well. Still, they're very sturdy in new condition. Perhaps they'd be best suited to a picnic basket. If I were hiking and heating my food, I'd rather have insulated mugs...

origami mess kit

Plates, bowls and mugs that fold flat. 4 of each. Don't know if I'd ever use it, but it was only 2 or 3$ for all. Imagine the envious looks you'll get from your buddies who are eating out of boil-in-the-foil bags and foam cups! :DB: Here's their website: http://www.orikaso.com/ One pic shows all thr...

Re: Gov't review of BPA in can linings

Just get her to start drinking from the Heinie pot, and maybe she'll come around once the BPA gets to her! :D

Re: Gov't review of BPA in can linings

I can picture the scientists now, feeding pop can shreds to lab rats to see if they get sick...

Gov't review of BPA in can linings

Looks like there's a conference in Ottawa this week to see if anyone can decide if there's enough BPA in can linings to be worried about. The question is whether the BPA is leaching into food - don't know if the scientists will tackle the question of what happens when you cook using a Heinie pot! ht...

Re: Tews Falls, Hamilton On.

Since they've been promoting the waterfalls in the area, some paths and viewing platforms have been built to give people better access. The valley walls are typically very steep, and the paths are needed to control the erosion that would result if hikers were mucking their way along. Each of the fal...

Tews Falls, Hamilton On.

Hamilton, Ontario is usually known as a dirty steel town, but they've been pushing the waterfall angle for the past five or ten years. The Niagara Escarpment runs around the town like a horseshoe, and there are plenty of creeks that run over the edge. In truth, there are probably 10 or 12 really goo...

Re: Windscreen impact on stove perfromance

Great work! Every new stove I see is better than the last one, but I too am concerned with a complete cooking system with the right shape of pot, efficient windscreen, completely packable, etc. Can't wait to make a Caldera Clone. Has anyone got designs for a folding version? That would certainly hel...

Re: BioLite stove

Great boots! All they need is mirrors on the toes so I can use them to charge my phone AND look up women's skirts at the mall. I'm all for multi-tasking! :DP: As for the stove, I'm really into the simple DIY aspect, so a stove that's smarter and more sophisticated than I am is not so appealing. ;) D...
