Re: Kodak 35mmFilm Can Day Hiker

As far as the film containers..I see them on ebay all the time, people selling 6 or more at a time to get over the shipping hump.I only had three or four(since I also build, restore, and collect cameras) around here so used those up.I no longer buy OR sell on ebay because of their new crappy format and...

Re: Retec Alcohol Burner(???)

Forgot the sternos..you don't want them..smooth on the outside and pretty dented up.Those have been banging around here for a couple years. The big ones are dented also. The optimus have some rust on the chrome tops..the 323 more than the 324..the 323's orange paint shows some discolor and wear, the 3...

Re: Kodak 35mmFilm Can Day Hiker

I'm rounding up parts for a "spam-can set" for using two at once if more heat is needed.Sometimes I'll load two ..when one burns out,set the other in and fire it up quick..just something small and compact. The penny one burns longer and lower with the center covered..The center of that one isn't punc...

Kodak 35mmFilm Can Day Hiker

Old farts will still remember the old aluminum 35mm kodak film cans..these make a nice small container for making alcohol stoves..I've tried penny stoves and others with center tubes of 1/2" conduit,a little jb weld on the threads of the can and around the top of the conduit, screw the top on and cut...

Retec Alcohol Burner(???)

Retec Alcohol Burner..I'm in Seattle so I think we get a lot of nautical items here also. This is slightly larger, weighs 18 ounces or so and all aluminum except for the pot stand on top and the rubber "burn control" side plug.Center of the picture..Is that considered a "backpacking" size? I'm adding ...

Re: Luv them thrift stores!

Zelph..you appear to be one of the more fanatical about them than most on here.. :D <p>A few months ago I was playing around with alcohol stoves..appears they've come quite a long ways since when I was looking before. I made a couple really small ones using the older Kodak aluminum film containers w...
