Re: Hybrid Side Burner alcohol stove wickatised 07/03/2007

Mine just came in the mail, Zelph! It's a beautiful thing. It bloomed in about 15 seconds. It's been cooking for 4:10 right now, and I'm having tea to take to Church with me tonight. You're a real artist, man. Now, I've got to find a way to get Skids to send me one of his TTLs with stand. That is on...

Re: Fire Making Skills

I saw a magnesium fire starter at W-Mart last night. Those suckers throw huge amounts of sparks. In an emergency, few things would work better.

Re: The philisophy of lightweight backpacking?

I'm new to this belief but I plan on applying it to my AT Thru-Hike March 1st. Any guiding hand through this would be great since i'm about to take on the task of selecting gear soon. I'd recommend reading Mags' whole site . He's 2/3 through a triple crown, and has more experience in light-hiking t...

Re: Stove Comparison - "Real World Use"

Thanks a lot Nightwalker. When I saw 3 ounces of alcohol per day I recalled Sgt. Rock and Mags saying to figure on 1 ounce of fuel per meal. How many of you would agree on that? Would be nice if all that view this would respond, kind like a poll :) I figure on 20 ml. (2/3 oz.) of alcohol per 16 oz ...
