I changed the title. Tell us about the Asian food stores please.

tomorrow i do more testing using Ramen seasoning packets. I'll be using the Kmart grease pot with 4 cups of water and 1/2 cup barley. I'll boil till 3 cups of water have been absorbed and test for crunchyness. That's my starting goal.

In San Francisco, CA, one asian food store had really huge barley in packages at very high prices.

It was barley. (It was not "puffed" barley.)

It is premium barley, apparently grown in one place.

I think it has special value attributed.

I looked today at the one Asian food store we have here. Nothing special. Just regular ole barley.

The barley I've been cooking takes 30 min of cooking to get it just right for eating. BUT, it's not naked barley. The hulls are getting stuck between my teeth :o I may have to order it online.

Yesterday I made barley beef soup by using the spice packet from Ramen beef noodles. Threw the noodles away :? :oops:soup turned out great. :D
