Give me your best shots at this thing. It might be sterling silver or heavy plate. Hinge pin has rusted and fallen apart. My guess is medication container for hiking lightweight ;)

pocket case for very small things that you light on fire and inhale.

That is what I thought when I first saw it.

But it might also be an antique cigarette case.

Here is an example...

You see the round ring on the inside? Has to be a fancy condom case of yesteryear! ;)

It does look like something was glued inside the case. Oops guess might be the the best. Ridgerunner comes in second for originality.

ciggarette case: no wire retainers that were usually there to hold the smokes.

I have an Uncle that is a big collector of tobbacco tins from yesteryear. I sent him the photos but he had never seen it. Is there any writing anywhere?

I'm voting for a ladies compact. That would explain the size, the apparently glued items, and the lack of retainer bars. Aren't most, even the old ones from before filters, longer than that one?

Something like this is what I'm thinking of:

Look at the glue stain on this mirror:

Of course, somebody could have taken an old compact or cigarette case and glued some family pictures in it.
