Minnesota Fats is a well known billiards champion. Pool shooter extrordinaire for those of you that may not know who he is.
The early model cue stick tips were glued on and after a length of time the tip would pop off. Before gluing on a new tip, the cue stick tip had to have it's tip refurbished with one of these tools so the glue would have a smooth surface to stick to.
Modern cue sticks have screw on tips. No more need for gluing.
