i have two tools that look similar to those, but do completely different jobs.

one is a screw starter. available for flat or philips head screws.

the other is a solder puller. 'cock' the puller, heat the solder to liquid, hold the puller to the solder joint and 'fire' it. the plunger inside retracts and sucks the solder from the joint.

This one is a stumper!!! The only half-way close guess I have is that they are holders for small wire brushes. The kind that a boss or inspector would have in his pocket to spot check welds or machine work.
They are a little too big to work on watches.

I recently purchased one on ebay. I always wanted one since seeing the one my friend had. :D
