Iditerod Stove - Win free Stove

Post by zelph » Fri Jan 23, 2009 5:25 pm

Were talking big alcohol stoves here!!! :D

The first one to come up with a photo of the inside of one will win a free stove. It has to be of one actually used on a race, not one that you make in your garage out a 5gal pail No deadline on this offer. First come first served.

I found this little titbit of info that might be leading to something.

use of toilet paper roll for burner

Stove and Water Pot (cooker)--the dogs require a lot of water, and the primary source of this water is the snow. These "cookers" can melt up to 4 gallons of snow and heat it to boiling water in just over 30 minutes. They burn denatured alcohol for fuel (it's safer to transport than gas and less explosive). The warming water inside the cooker pot is also the main way that mushers heat up their own food, which is usually sealed in vacuum-sealed plastic bags.

Man, that puppy sure puts out some heat ! I think Zelph is looking for inside construction. It might require an email to a Iditerod racer. I have seen nothing on the web as of yet ! :o

That it one heck of a stove burning there!!!!! Nice photo of it, thanks linuxhack. we'll see how this search pans out. I'll have to pour the remains of my gallon can of denatured in a 5 gal bucket and see how it burns without a wick device.

Now!!!! check this out all of you out there that like vintage stoves and stuff.

Put your mouse over the photo that linuxhack submitted and click. You'll receive a pleasant surprise.

Looks like a bucket with holes around the bottom.
