Use sand to absorb fuel in stoves

Postby zelph » Mon Dec 03, 2007 6:15 pm

I used heavy duty cast aluminum 1 ounce cups to do this test.

The two cups on the right have sand in them. The one furthest to the right is half full, the center is full.

The cup on the left is filled full of fiberglass cloth.

I used Coleman white gas, also known as Lantern Fuel. Other fuels may be used also. Do Not Do This Experiment Indoors
Cups were filled with 1/2 ounce of fuel and ignited.

The clock shows how much time has elapsed and which burner exhausts the fuel first.

Start from the bottom photo first to see the burn progression.
