Catfood tin Sideburner

Postby zelph » Fri May 16, 2008 11:19 am

Sideburners are the current stoves of choice for now so I made one usinmg the famous cat food tin.

I double walled it just like everone else.

I weighs 22 grams

It blooms in 8 seconds

I need to reduce the amount of holes, it's burning tooo fast.

I had to get one on the table :D before heading off to get some fishing time in. I'll be gone for two weeks. I'll be lost up in the North Woods cooking with twigs using the Globe Stove ;)

Hi Zelph,

What hole size did you use for the jets.

I hope you have a great time in the North Woods. (I am jealous)

Hi there Tony!!! The weather put a stop to our fishing plans    Our pilot advised us icing on the lakes was keeping him grounded and will advise when conditions improve. Bummer!!!!!

I did alot of research work for the Illinois DNR instead.

Have not had time to make modifications to this stove yet, still on hold.

Hole size was 54 wire size.

It's starting to come around. I reduced the amount of holes by half. Kept the hole size the same.

I did 2 test today. 1/2 ounce boiled 2 cups in 5 min.

It blooms in 5 seconds.

It's double walled, sealed at the top with aviation epoxy cement. Epoxy was given to me by friend that works for Sundstrand Aviation here in my hometown. He will see if it's available to the general public and by what name.
