 thanks DarenN.

I had 3 cups of water in the pot to test the legs of the stand. It tested out kinda wobbly. I have some heavier gauge flat stock maybe next time. I wanted to test the concept. It works for the first test. I need to do alot of test burns to see how the fabric holds up. I had the stove burning hot for about 45 min, kept pumping in the fuel to keep it red hot in places.

there is some cause for hope of durability.

i have a woodstove in my boat shop. at times i have thrown peices of fiberglassed wood in the stove. i always find bits of un-burned 'glass in the ashes, even after many many fires. the cloth is still flexable.

Very clever idea Zelph. The ability to store flat will make it easy to pack in a bag so ash or carbon can't spread. To stiffen the stand, maybe you could add a disc similar to your Starlight but with clips or slots so it will still fold. Nice work!

Where'd you get the fiberglass?

On ebay 8-10 months ago. I came across the rolls as I was cleaning out the garage. (I'm finding alot of lost stuff in there  )

The idea of a folding wood burner comes from a guy named Nia Schmald in a post he made in this thread BACKPACKINGLIGHT.COM.

Thanks DaddyMnM , I'm using a machine screw in the center pivot point with 2 nuts that are holding it secure. The wobble comes from the gauge of ss flat stock.

Here is an additional clip of the stove:

Pretty sweet. For very wooded environments (e.g. the AT!), a wood stove is not a bad option at all. With the 2oz weight, this a very feasible stove to use.
