Oh Yes!!!! you gotta love Denatured Alcohol. I did 6 test burns this evening using denatured. 2 cups 65 degree water boiled on average of 7.75 min. and continued to burn for 1 more min.
I did one test using 91 percent isopropyl alcohol. 3/4 ounce boiled 2 cups in 8.5 min and continued to burn for an additional 3 min. I should be able to get the boil with 1/2 ounce. The Cobalt Blue has turned out to be a super stove.

Very nice idea! This will also stop the issue of the flames going down on stoves like this when a cold pot is set on top. The Stainless Steel inner pot stand is another great idea.

Thanks Drak, I'll do some testing over the weekend with ice water in a pot to check for flame decrease when the pot is placed on it. I suspect very little recuction in flame. The stove's jets light up in about 3 seconds when the center of the stove is lit. I'll get a video of that soon.NCHiker1970 wrote:Very nice idea! I want to go fishing this weekend so I did the cold water/pot test today
The water was 35 degrees, air temp 60
It took 11 min. to boil 2 cups of 35 degree water
Total burn time for 1.5 ounces of denatured alcohol was 22 min.

Re: "Cobalt" stove for Heineken pot
Because the stove is "top jetted" I was able to make the Cobalt Blue simmer by using an aluminum ring placed over the stove as shown in the video. It weighs 1 ounce, has integrated pot stand, burns denatured alcohol and HEET (yelllow) and is able to simmer. I've had a few PM's asking about the availability of the stove. I should have some made available on ebay by tomorrow.

Looks like it works well in both modes!

Burn time...... I did a quick test using a different size simmer ring for use with iso91. The ring was not to simmer but to make it burn efficient and most of all "clean" Using 1/2 ounce fuel, 70 degree water, optimum conditions.
Water boiled in 12 min. and flame out occured at 15.5 min.
The bottom of the pot was sooted from previous tests so I;m not sure how clean it was burning but it sure looooked like it was clean burning. Lots of blue base flame and pure white top layer, no flame over the lowest edge of heiny pot.
Some of you may remember the clean burn I was able to get with the Ring of Fire stove using iso91. Once in a great while will I see someone wanting to use iso as their fuel. Why not!!! it's less expensive and it's recomended for use on skin, dual purpose????
