No he didn't delete my comment it was at least a few weeks ago that I put it there when he began his new project. Though it wouldn't matter to me as it's his website and he is responsible for the content. If someone posts a comment on my blog I don't care for it will not get published. Everyone seems to think that they have the right to post to someone's website and they don't.zelph wrote:Cphobes , this set-up would be good for purifying water in large quantity. Also would be good for a base camp. I do base camp and bushwack most of the time. This set-up is good for me when not using wood as my fuel source.(most of the time). My fuel container is a positive supply source and I'm confident it will provide a safe supply of fuel.

In any event, I agree base camping would be a good use for the stoves as it usually means lots of people to cook for. Though for me we use a large propane tank & propane tree for base camping with lantern and two hoses for appliances. Or the grill from home.

This prototype is not sealed yet. The stove is held together by a nut beneath the bottom can and a nut on the top can. The hose barb connection is threaded to receive the nuts. Once all the refinements are made I'll make another final copy and it will have the top can spot welded to the bottom one for permanent attachment and the hose barb connection will be JB welded at the nuts to prevent fuel sepage from top to bottom.Ridgerunner wrote:Nice concept Zelph. I like it ! are the pot stand and hose base epoxyed together? I'm going to have to hit the library this weekend.I'm not sure of the entire setup but I would put an inline shutoff valve close to the stove to conserve a bit more fuel when close to shutting down the burner. As usual, nicely done !
I'm waiting on some sleeve material to arrive. Once it's here then I'll do some photos and video of the fuel supply.
My fuel container will allow the return of fuel by raising the stove to a higher level. Gravity pulls it back into the container.

Looks good, The one I'm working on, has a spray bottle for fueling, needs about four full trigger pulls to get a teaspoon of fuel in. so that about 1.25 ml per pull. Still have a single draw back I need tin metal tube to deliver fuel. been scrounging for empty ink refills. But one again I like the 90 deg fitting, reduces the fiddle factor a bit.

What is the insulation or fabric around the end of the hose near the burner?

Re: RF StarLyte Stove
Just an update!!!
The 250ml IV bags are proving to be worthy of fuel storage. I've found a source for fuel line more suitable for use with the IV regulator. Smaller diameter for lighter weight. I'm waiting on some items for a better fuel line hook up for the #2 stove.
This stove works fine as is. I'm working on a different burner head for it. Just for tweaking purposes
