Zipp Alcohol Stove 11/13/2006

Somewhat of a zip stove

Actually it's a Modified "Zippo" pocket ashtray

All I had to do is put insulation or steel wool in it(yeh right )

For sure I put fiberglass cloth in it

Made a stainless steel pot stand

Filled it with 10ml of denatured alcohol

Boiled 1 cup of water in 7 min(air and water temp was at 49 degrees.)

I just wanted to show you how easy it is to adapt/modify stuff to make an alcohol burner.

1st photo shows what the ash tray looks like if you were interested in purchasing one at Kmart

2nd photo shows the size of it in my hand

second half of stove

I lost my original photos of this burner awhile back, had to do some quick redos.

That is a "Zippo" lighter on the left, looks like a normal lighter until you open it and lite it

I put it under a pot and boiled 2 cups of water with 1/2 ounce of denatured alcohol

Both burners combined weigh 17 pounds 3 ounces

did not check boil times

Zippo fans will buy anything thats related to Zippo

I'm going to make a hammock out of fiberglass cloth put some fuel on it(selectively placed under my butt), fire it up, no insulation needed for cold weather

1st photo tea candle and lighter

2nd photo Zippo ablaze

3rd photo ablaze under pot

photo with funnel

Here's a photo with the little funnel that I use daily to fill my little burners. It's on the right side behind the stainless steel potstand. Makes easy work of it, no dribbling, no dribble, no reason to snivle.

3rd photo burner and potstand

4th photo shows burner at end of burn/low on fuel

5th photo shows burner in full bloom flame patern under 1 cup pot
