StarLyte XL 4.5

It's an Extral Large StarLyte burner that has a 4.5 oz fuel capacity. A while back I made one of these for myself for 2 day walkabouts. I coupled the burner with a 32oz beer can pot and a Caldera Cone.

The Fancee Feest is a proven winner. It loves cold temperatures

I recently made one for a guy that wants to use it under a Snow Peak600. It has a shorter pot support to reduce the flame spread. He reports that it is working well. I recently received a photo from him showing the flame spread. I'll ask him If I can use his photo to post here.

The Venom Super Stove can be made to burn kerosene by shortening the pot support, that's why I called it a super stove. It has some neat features such as holding 3/4oz fuel in suspension.

There is a phenomena that occurs when the water in the pot is just about ready to boil, the flame of almost any of the stoves that touch the bottom of the pot will get bigger. Some kind of science going on there

Pot is no longer taking heat away from the stove via the pot support so it heats up and vaporizes the fuel faster.

The large StarLyte weighs 1.5oz with lid. The original with lid weighs .5oz

It looks as much diameter as my Ring of Fire, I no longer have.

I was able to modify my tooling and attached an aluminum top to the larger burner. Without the lid it weighs .9oz

I can fill it with 4.5oz of fuel, put the lid on and I'm good to go for 2 days. Now to find the lightest pot support.

It's aluminum. Nice thing about the cone, it's the windscreen along with the pot support. When I first started testing the cone using a sheet of glass to set it on while it burned and was able to observe from beneath I could see a swirling pattern that made the flame go round and round the bottom of the pot. I could see that same pattern as I did my recent tests while looking at the slot at the base of the cone. Caused by the vertical slot and bottom air inlet holes.

Does the Starlyte XL 4.5 have the capacity of the Companion burner?

If, then, is it suitable for wintertime use, or, for melting snow?

Is it, instead, a long "simmering" stove adjusted for the Caldera Cone?
