The Boss-Coil Stove

Post by zelph » Fri Feb 27, 2015 10:59 pm

:D Got it put together today and I'll fire it up tomorrow.

Weighs 2 ounces not including the snuffer, flame concentrator and coil plug.

It will probably hold about 3.5 ounces of fuel. This type of stove is suppose to be filled only 2/3 capacity.

Nice looking stove. I can't wait to see how it burns. Thanks for posting.

Thank you Churro. I lit it up this afternoon and now it's on it's way to tweaking :D

It sounds like a canister stove....hehe...a refillable canister ;)

Did another test after filing the stove with 3.5oz. fuel and got a 2 cup boil in 8 min. Don't know how much fuel was used. It's coming along nicely.

There can't be any air leaks in the stove at all. I had the fuel port a teeny bit lose and the jets would not function. FWIW ;)

It no longer has the yellow/orange color to the flame at start up. :)

Thanks. Your video gave me some ideas about how to proceed safely with my own project.

Glad it could help someone :D It's been an eye opener for me to see how it operates. The first time I tried using a "Ball" jelly jar. I'll see if I can find the thread.

Interesting; it differs from most coil burners in that it hast just a single loop as opposed to the typical double loop but burns just fine. :DB:

Try putting an insulator ring under the stove to keep the "cool" from the pan off of it..You might get a more blue flame that way with a hotter pot...and remove the carbon fiber washer..a little more heat shouldn't harm it or throw the burn out of whack...
I think I got a more blue flame with the coil burner..at our balmy 50-60 degrees... ;) ..sitting on the concrete floor of the garage...Of course I have a steel tank though...
