Stove that got me banned from Kitchen

Post by zelph » Sat Mar 14, 2015 12:38 am

This is the one that got me banned from the kitchen cause it went boom just seconds before my wife walked in the door

Image

The 3 pieces of fiberglass were in the center of the can you see in the background. Short story.......placed match over top of stove and it blew those 3 flaming pieces up and one went onto my chest, one went thataway and the other one landed in the kitchen sink. :DBfire:

Scared???? not me  ........yes, it scared me big time  but I remained composed and said nothing when my wife asked me what happened 8-)

Thanks for sharing. That'll take some hair off your chest.

The area of the hole was too small relative to the volume inside the can where fuel vapors and air formed an explosive mixture. A 1" diameter hole seems large enough for stoves I have tried, but that can you used is probably much bigger than anything I have tried.

Those 3 pices formed a U shape and left about 3/16" hole that allowed the flame to go down and into the hollow surrounding the entire inner sanctum of the can that was filled with vapor. KABOOM
