I poach Eggs placed directly in simmering water with a bit of Vinegar added. It helps the Egg keep it's shape.
Ridgerunner mentioned Pink pickled Eggs. The pink color is caused by Beets. Here's My Mom's Recipe:
Hard boil and peel 12 eggs.
Open and drain 2 cans of beets (sliced or whole)
retaining the juice from 1 can
place the eggs and beets in a 1/2 gallon jar
bring to a boil, stiring occasionally
the 1 can of retained beet juice,
1 cup of Vineger (apple cider vineger tastes best),
1 cup of sugar, and a pinch of salt.
(some people add pickling spices, but She doesn't)
pour boiled liquid over the eggs and beets and refrigerate.
Cheers!

Oh Allen, you bring back memories. I can remember my mom serving a side dish of sliced pickled beet with a slice or two of hard boiled egg. Not my favorite but pretty tasty. At Krogers, we carry a plastic jar of Fischer's pickled eggs. They are pink but no sight of any beets. I will have to read the label.

My dad took a short cut. When he finished off the beets he dumped in the hardboiled eggs and let them soak until mellowed.Allen wrote:I poach Eggs placed directly in simmering water with a bit of Vinegar added. It helps the Egg keep it's shape.

When he finished off a jar of pickles he would save the juice for when he would fish for "Smelt" in lake Michigan and put the smelt into the saved pickle juice. better than pickled herring

Thanks for you patronage, Allen ! I will not buy meat anywhere else because I know what others carry and what we carry. Sure, once in awhile you might get a bad piece anywhere but you can return it for a refund or new cut of meat at Kroger. I will tell you that when looking for a steak for the grill, try to go with a choice grade or better. The Select grade is a lesser grade, thus cheaper, and has less marbling(specks of fat thru the muscle). It is the mabling that makes your grill steaks tender and juicy. It is recommended to NOT overcook Select cuts as you might find yourself testing out your jaw muscles quite a bit.Allen wrote:Kroger's Rules!

I've put Hard boiled Eggs in left over pickel juice before. It works great.
I've done it to hot dogs too(Boil them first)
I'll have to try fish.
Cheers!
P.S. My Neighbor pours her pickle juice on Her Hydrangea bushes.

It makes the flowers all kinds of crazy shades of Pink, Blue and Purple colors.

I saw those in the new catalog I received a couple days ago. I wonder if they are thicker than the eggpods? Do you have a set on order? Inquiring minds want to know!zelph wrote:These littleSquishy Bowlslook interesting for doing eggs of muffins.
