Ridgerunner had an Eggsellent Idea!!!! A thread devoted to EGGS.

I'll start it off with these two videos and we can add as we go.

The first one is an 3 egg omlet cooked in a freezer bag.


The second is an easy way to peel hardboiled eggs.

i picked up some silicone muffin cups and tried them for poached eggs. they work great!
crushable for packing;

I did egg cups using the Silly Feet silicone muffin pans :)

Great way to start the day!!!!!

Where's the butter??????

All good chefs and cheffets use butter :P

First thing tomorrow off I go to me some of those silicon cookers and then go vote ;)

I have been totally won over with silicone muffin liners of all types - they work so well, reusable, don't weigh a lot and don't require long soaking to get clean!

I got 2 today. The ones that look like a swim cap :lol:

I was able to poach 2 eggs in one pouch, made some photos and will post later or tomorrow.

My eggs stuck to the one side of the cup, hmm?

I used my (gift) titanium mug as my pot. Half full of water, placed the poacher inside and then put the eggs in . One of them broke as I put them in one by one.. I boiled them open faced for x amount of min.(no timing) I winged it. ;) I used a fork to hook one of the holes in the poacher to get it up and out of the mug. It was easy to drain the water from the poacher by holding onto another of the three handles if you will. Tipped it upside down and the eggs plopped out onto the bowl for the most part. Some stuck to the side of the poacher and easily released most of it. The remaining egg had to be scraped with my thumb nail to remove.

I added butter and some real bacon bits(aldis) Two eggs went down fast. :D

These things really work great ;) Easy to clean. Daren and Sarbar, question, are yours easy to clean? The goves in the cupcake style look like they might be a little bit of a challenge.

I have found that steamed cupcakes are harder to get out than the eggs out of mine. I hedge it is due to the fat in the eggs though - helps it slide out! Now egg whites would tend to fry on more than yolks - I had scrambled mine in the cup so that might have helped :)

i can be a bit forgetfull at times. the first time i used the muffin cups was one of those times. i neglected to spray the cups with oil, yet they released pretty much completely. what didn't just fall out, was easily scraped out useing Zelphie's thumbnail technique.

aside: i have an oil atomizer bottle that i fill with (usually) olive oil. give it a couple of pumps and it sprays just like an arosol can, but without the propellants.

Zelph. you and i have a different method for poached eggs. the difference is the water level. i don't cover mine with water. just halfway up the outside of the little cups. it's the way my Grandma did it, useing what she called desert bowls. i used to have an egg poaching fry-pan that had a tray that fit in the top lip, under the edge of the lid, and had holes where little s/s cups would fit holding the cups above the level of the water. maybe mine are better called Steamed than Poached?
