Skagit Valley

On our first day of filming for a documentary project that I and a couple of friends are starting up, I grabbed a few stills... here are some of those :)

Yes, those should get an award or two. :D

A few snow geese :o Looks like a "gathering" of south bounders.

My wif and I saw a gathering of Sandhill cranes this spring on Horicon Marsh in Wisconsin. No camera for a quick shot. :( Saw quite a few Whooping Cranes also.

Thank you for the beautifull photos. :D

No problem... thank you for the compliments!

That was actually a fairly small flock of Wrangel Island snow geese in their wintering ground. The farmers feed them around here, as part of a restoration program... hunting nearly wiped them out.

If you're lucky, you can sometimes find flocks of 10,000 or more of these guys. It's quite a sight, and the sound of that many quacks and wingbeats is quite something to behold :)

Oddly, these images are slightly cropped, though I don't know why. The originals are better balanced... and viewable on my blog.

Regarding awards... I'd prefer sales, since selling them means more people can enjoy them, and also it helps me to make more images like that ;)

(I am going to have a web store up and running soon-ish... it's in the works now.)

I was hoping your buisness adventure would be funded by the making of pledges etc. I look forward to purchasing once your store is up and running. Start clicking!!! :D Where are the photos of your big adventure you were on this year. I have to check your previous thread to jog my memory :o

It's been jogged:

Sunrise Over Mawenzi I found it :D

Some of those going to be in your store?

I was too, but the last year was a mess. I wanted to have the store up and running long before now, but life's been getting in the way (I just barely sneaked out of foreclosure because my realtor somehow managed to find a buyer)... sigh.

That Sunrise Over Mawenzi image will definitely be in the store... along with a couple of e-books that I'm going to put together as well. I sold a copy to to a person on the east coast, and he was blown away with it -- it far exceeded his expectations... and you should see the 24x30 metal print of "Spirit of the Serengeti" :)

Thanks!

There's something new in the works right now that ought to help quite a bit. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, I need all the help I can get raising some bux for the American Lung Association here and could use some sponsorships. :)
