ridgerunner was right!

Postby irrationalsolutions » Sun Feb 22, 2009 1:58 am

darn you rr. you were right i am a gearhead now. i used to be more into the whole take only what you need thing. i used cast iron pots and pans and did things the old way and most everything was heavier. well, as i have mentioned in the past i still have a lot of stuff in storage but have dug out some stuff. most of what i dug out was the lighter stuff. i also said that i was working on putting a few packs togeather. well my pack is the better of all the packs. the wifes is the second best with all the other stuff divided between the other bags. before you say anything my pack has the best stuff because i use it more, she really doesnt like to go on outings often. she is ok with this infact she came up with the idea. my stuff that i have out right now...

kelty redcloud 5000
camelbak 3L hydration bladder
20F mummy bag
a top bottom compression sack for the bag
featherfire stove (to be added very soon)
700ml ti pot w/lid
lmf and ti spork
ziplock cook set with can pot
32oz nalgene widemouth
msr miniworks
diy fak
diy survival kit (whistle, mirror, .....)
5 fire starting methods
4 types of tender
blade for diy bow/buck saw
folding saw
a hatchet, small/boys axe, full size axe (pick as i want)
2 fishing poles (a break down pole w/open faced reel w2 spools w/diff test line, a instant fisherman)
small amount of fishing gear and fellet knife
wrist rocket sling shot w/2 extra bands
dell bow w/2 arrows diy idea from another forum
mora carbon knife
hennessy hammock w/stock tarp (i have everything to make a winter tarp for year round use but need to do it)
blue ccf pad
leatherman super tool
hygene items

thats all i have in front of me right for my pack. i was moving a few things around earlier today so i may have missed a few things. thats just my pack, i still have the wifes pack and two others mostly packed. i know not everything is backpacking but i keep all the stuff togeather and take out what i dont want.

forgot to add this...

the wife played a trick on me. she told me she was bidding on a set of leki trekking poles for me on ebay :D . i was like, really thats cool. she knows i was thinking about getting a set when i could find i set cheap enough. i tried out a set the other week with a friend and again thought i would like to have a set. well i pulled up the ebay account to see where she stood on the bidding. when it popped up she started laughing so i took a good look at them and it was the divas womens poles  . to say the least she allowed her self to be out bidded. i guess she saw the disapointment on my face and felt bad. i checked my email a couple days later and saw a order confirmed message from steep and cheap in my inbox. she happened to find a pair on there for just $50 and ordered them for me. so i have them on the way to add to the gear list.

this brings up two problems though.
1) she thinks its funny to get me womens stuff :( . i know your laughing but its not funny  . well looking back on it, it is kinda funny  . however, i didnt think so at the time.
2) she uses my accounts for everything online :o . i think she and i should talk about this.

show all you want, mine are on the way ;) . there is still a lot of time left on that. when she bid it was $26. by the time the bid was over it was something like $60 and that was just a day later. as long as it doesnt go up too high someone is going to get a good deal. :D

ok i have another addition to the list. i was going through a box the fife picked up from storage to find some cloths she needed. i dont know how it got in there but i found my bag of hunting darts. so i now have my 18" blow gun with about 16 darts to add to the list.

i need to get more batteries for the camera but i found this on photobucket...

Image

mine looks like that but shorter. i do have plans to make my own but havent yet. well i did make one out of pipe but i really want to try to make one out of bamboo but havent found a bamboo patch around here yet and they built a housing development where one used to be in my home town. i'm still looking though. the darts are just 4" nettles with plastic plungers. i know they will take down anything upto a rabbit.

Did you find the dart board that goes with it

Tell us more about your blowgun and darts. A history is in order here. Fess-up, what have you hunted with your darts? ;)
