Remote Fueling for Alcohol Stoves

This month is Remote Fueled Alcohol Stove month for the stove club competition.

I thought it would be good to discuss why we would want to have a "Remote" fueling system for alcohol stoves.

Canister stoves have a remote so the canister can be inverted to provide liquid fuel to the stove in cold temperatures.

Stoves that use "white gas" as fuel have a remote canister just because of the nature of the fuel.

Why use a remote for alcohol?

Open for discussion. I'll list them here once the reasons are presented.

1. No pre-measure of fuel. From container direct to stove. (Irrationalsolutions)

2. Extended burn time. Larger fuel reservoir allows for uninterrupted burn. (DaddyMnM )

3.

ease of use. if you fuel straight from the fuel storage container all you have to do is hook it up. you dont have to measure the fuel anymore either.

Some use flip-top fuel containers and squirt directly into stove fueling area. No premeasuring like I do with the little medicine cup type measure device .

Thanks for your input IRS

Eliminates waiting for a stove to cool down when you've ran out of fuel and needed more to finish the job.

I guess that would be the same as uninteruptted burn time from a safety factor..

Let me ask this: How much uninterupted burn time can we get from a large "Trangia" stove? That being established, should we say an extended burn time longer than(give established time)

Okay.."remote fuel supply"..question..Does this mean "at any possible burn rate"(say always high) or is this going to include "an adjustable burn rate"?..Is this just adding to a stove to keep it "in fuel" or is this a "measured fuel rate to control the burn" potential?
I hope that's not a dumb question..but one I think it should be answered...

Okay..that(or this).. may have been a dumb question..is it possible to regulate the fuel to control the burn of an alcohol stove?...or is it only controlled by controlling the air flow?(I'm learning..I hope!) :?:
