venturi tube

Somebody posted a stove here with this idea but I can't remember where I saw it. Anyway, here is a link to an old fellow (a count) that used the concept to redesign fireplaces. Along with better airflow for the smoke he also figured out a way to radiate more heat. It reminded me (the post here, and the count) of a venturi tube. Venturi was alive at the same time. I wonder who learned from who?
