new gerber knife
Don't laugh, but they are resetting the outdoor stuff at my local walmart so I stopped to take a look at the new crap they are trying to push. Well they have a bear grylls gerber knife. I picked one up had have been testing it out some. Its lite weight and seems to do most basic functions well. With the rubber grip it doesn't slip much either. Im going to try it out next month on a trip to see though to make sure.
Oh and just so y'all don't think I fell off the face of the earth. I did sneek in a couple days in the blue ridge last month. I found out that I really need to get around to making a new under quilt and my bud lyte stove works well in cold weather.

Let us know how that knife works for you. I considered getting one but there were a lot of complaints that the tang does not go all the way through the handle and the pommel was snapping off with very little effort.
It sounded like they were going to make changes to address this but I haven't heard if it happened yet.

East coast zelph. But we have had some bad stuff here too.
The knift is the folding one not the fixed blade. I don't like the back lock but that's all I can tell so far that I don't like. That's just because I don't trust them though. For a fixed blade I use both a cheap mora and a handmade knife but neither are needed for backpacking where weight is an issue.... but I still carry the mora.

Good to hear from you IR. I thought maybe you and the Buckeye finally got hitched and have been on a cruise around the world!
I think Zelph meant the Atlantic.
That's my thought and I'm stickin' to it!

I thought by now he'd manufactured a couple mini-campers to contend with because the wife wouldn't go out there with him..

Much more simple than that, guys. I assume y'all have heard the expression old ball and chain. Well when I want to hit the woods or trail I chain her to me and drag her like a ball. Lol!!

Not sure about the grips. They feel like rubber coated so I guess they could be neo. But they don't slip
