I'm thinking of this one:

Virgin Mobile LG Optimus V $150 for the phone and $25/month for 300 minutes voice and unlimited data

What do you folks think? Deal or not?

I read that it can be used as a hotspot for your laptop (or other device, kindle, etc)

Here's a video review (guy puts me to sleep but he covers it all)

Forget that other video. It will bore you to death.

This one's shorter and better

I didn't look at the video.
$25/month for 300 minutes voice and unlimited data
$25 for unlimited data, is a good deal. If you can get a USB stick, it is awesome.

I say that, because then you can get a Cradlepoint device to use the cell service data plan for internet.

If the phone allows "tethering" you can "tether" your laptop, for example, for full internet.

If it is full internet on Android, it is still a good deal.

edit: I did look at the video.

If you download "Quick Settings" you have a WiFI hotspot. Sweet!

In Montana, no Virgin Mobile or Sprint. Only Sprint "roaming". I wonder, if I could get the Virgin Mobile service and have the better data protocols on "roaming"? Answer: No "data link" in "roaming" maybe? Difficult to find out. I do not know what these services are. But "Data Link" "not accessible" may mean no data service.
Most data services work at a slower rate, except the following services are not accessible when roaming: Location Based Services (Sprint Family Locator, Sprint Navigation and TeleNav), Music store, Ready Link, and Data Link.
