Tenkara is a fun way to get into Fly Fishing. I take mine with me everywhere I go in case I see a nice place to fish.

Arson, Thanks for posting your vids. The more I read about these rods the more difficult it is to choose one. Do you have any strong opinions about the Tenkara yet? Which rod and which line did you choose?

I like the way you rigged the line for transport. I looked at the little spool Tenkara offers but had an idea like yours instead. how did you rig the rod with the line holder? Is it your own creation or is it commercially available?

Well this is interesting. I was looking for posts from local fishermen who have tried the Tenkara and someone posted these links for alternatives. For that price it might be worth a look since there is no Tenkara dealer anywhere near me.

The Well-Tempered Angler, Arnold Gingrich

It was about the "midge" rod. The closest I got, was the Orvis Bantam and #3 weight line reel.

All the Tenkara links make good reading... looks fun Arson.

I found more YouTube on this webpage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGshAotM ... re=related

Sudden, It will be interesting what you decide.

I'm torn. I really want a gopro camera and the wife, err boss, gave the ok after watching this video. I just want too many toys lately

If your into Hammock Camping then you've probably heard of ArrowHeadEquipment or AHE. They also sell Tenkara equipment at a reasonable price:

My line holder was an idea stolen from the masses. Here is a video on it:

I was looking at the Tenkara Talk website. http://www.tenkaratalk.com/

There is a big ad for a Tenkara Demo Program.

For $15 shipping, you get to handle the Tenkara fishing rod before purchase.

They only have one rod to demo, at a time, and you are responsible for any damage. If you are patient, I suppose you could try all the different rods.

There is also an ad for Tenkara Summit 2012. http://www.tenkarausa.com/summit.php

It appears you could see and handle all the Tenkara fishing rods and lots of Tenkara vendor products gear.
