Welcome fingerlakeshiker. Glad to have you here. for awhile I've been interested in the prehistoric peoples that inhabited the Finger Lakes region. Lots of ancient ruins thereabouts. Must be a really nice area to hike in. Let us know of your travels and experiences as you get back into hiking. We like photos :D

I have been hiking (dayhiking) for some years, and my girlfriend and I do a lot of carcamping.Afew of us from work did some backpacking in the adir. in the early 1980s. I do a lot of hiking in the Fingerlakes National Forest and have checked out some of the nearby state forests. I have plans to backpack at FLNF in early march, I really enjoy winter and the challenges of spending the night out in the cold.

TRip was great. We snowshoed 7.2miles into the leanto area, it took longer than expected as the last 3 miles of the trail was unbroken. 5.5 hours. We all went to bed real early. Great view of the stars. Knew it was going to get cold. Low of 4* recorded in the leanto. Only took 3.25 hours to snow shoe out this morning. Beautiful area in the winter. Tired now.
