I wasn't sure where to put this, but I thought it might be informative. I started a thru-hike of the AT in 1999 with a 45 lb. pack and quickly realized I was suffering needlessly. Within 2 months I had whittled it down to 20 lbs and I've never gone back. Now I see hiking as walking, really. Reducing my pack weight has been transformative, making the experience so much better.

Anyway, my pre-pack weight is now down to 12-13 lbs. I thought I'd share my pack list so new ultralight "converts" can get some ideas. You can find it here:

Yes, thanks mcd. Makes me think I need to make some changes. My knees are getting a little over worked :D I need to upgrade on the fish oil capsuls :mrgreen:

Nice read on the link to BPL

I gotta get me one of those paklite 9v head lamps. I love the 9v battery :D I like the way they think!!!!!!
