Heineken Barrel Design discontinued?????

I got a glimpse of a thread somewhere that gave me the impression that the barrel design has been discontinued.

Anyone hear the same?

I'll do a google and see what i find.

Probably too many UL hikers complaining about the bad taste coming from the coatings in their heinie-pots..

Sad News:

Starting in March 2011 the Heineken Company changed the design of their original keg-shaped aluminum can to a standard straight wall can. The design of the Original Penny Stove requires the spacial shapes offered by that can. So, this means that you and I will no longer be able to build Original Penny Stove.

There's a convenience store, a mile from my house with a shelf full of the Heiny barrel cans. I guess I better go scoop them up. (Sorry to all the Penny-haters, but I love my Penny Stove.)

..You never know...No FDA tests have ever been done for that...That's not the intended purpose or use for the can...Extreme heat factors could change its properties...

I've only made one and it worked for me. I like one piece stoves

I talked with the Heiniken sales rep today and the keg is disco'd in all sizes. No, not because backpackers were using them for cookpots but because of the wide profile. They can get more on the shelf with a taller slimmer can....Grrrrr
