Taykit Pocket Stove burner

I recently purchased a Taykit fuel tank only on ebay. (no pot/pan support) and has not arrived yet so there are no photos. This is a "coil" style stove.

My research says coleman fuel as the fuel of choice.

My question is this: will it burn alcohol?

Second question: does anyone have just the pot support for sale

Those of you that have built their own coil stoves will be interested to see the wind sheild/screen that surrounds the coil on the Taykit stove. It's my impression that the screen/sheild is important to it's smooth operation and you may want to incorporate the same device on your DIY coil stoves to see how it may help in their performance.

Can anyone tell me what product we have here in the USA that is equivalent to "Automotive Panel Wipe" that is found in the UK ?

Oops56, do you have a close up photo available of the wind screen that surrounds the coil of the Taykit that you can post? I would be very appreciative if you can do that for us.

I have two complete Taykit stoves. If Oops doesn't get pics for you, I will get it fired up tonight and post some. It runs on Coleman fuel. I don't know if it will work with Heet but doubt it The windscreen and pot support/windscreen are somewhat importanant in high winds but, as with all coil burners, once it is fired up, it is like a torch ! One of mine has a heat deflector that glows cherry red after a short time.

Here's a few pics of the Taykit Stove. After doing a burn, I emptied the tank and filled it with Heet. It ran nicely for, maybe, a minute and then it kept blowing itself out. Must use Coleman fuel ! We ventured, we gained !

I should be able to weld up a potstand for it until such time as I come up with an original one. Fat chance of finding one though

Negative! I have to wonder if the only reason that mine burned for minute was that there may have been coleman fuel in the coil that had to burn off before the Heet came out.
