I cast my vote for the tri-castle. I like the mulit-use as a stand for an alcohol burner. I would actually buy one of these.

Re: Time to vote for September entries.
I really, really like all three of these stoves. It might be hard to carry the rocket stove backpacking but would be great to have at base camp. Very well done gents. My vote goes to Darens "Neufeld MK1 Woodstove" for its clever design, flat storage and hard to argue with the big fire pic.
Very Tuff decision! Oops, yours is premo also. If I was allowed halvsies, I'd give you both a half.

Re: Time to vote for September entries.
This is a tough one. The rocket stove is a classic, and Oops has done a good job on this one. His pot holder is nice and simple and rugged. This would be a simple build to duplicate.
The "Neufeld MK1 Woodstove" looks like it fulfills its stated purpose well and has the simple and elegant look of a well thought out and well crafted design. It has the look of a polished commercial product. However, I hesitate to vote for it because its use of stainless steel and joinery is not within reach of the average DIY'er.
That said, I think I'll cast my vote for RR's Castle stove. It's dual use, and could be built with simple hand tools.

I vote Rocket Stove!!!!
It's got the makins for a good lightweight 1 quart size reduction backpacking stove.
I like the design, long sticks can be easily fed into it's side.
I can't wait to make my own quart size
The castle won't last long because it's thin wall aluminum Nice design
The MK1 is too heavy, nice design

but......... oh, never mind.zelph wrote:The MK1 is too heavy, nice design

on second thought; mind!

the obvious woodstove.
BBQ. with a second grill across the top i grilled a porkchop.
winscreen for an alcohol burner. used three sides only and spread them so the burner and potstand would fit inside.
on uneven ground i used one side of the stove as a base for my alcohol stove.
lest we forget; cheery happy fire!
the enclosed firebox beats "no open fire" bans. (but not 'no fire at all' bans)
i think it's wrong to vote for oneself. i vote for RR's tricastle. it may not last too long but the design is sound and you could get a bunch of stoves out of one cookie sheet.
Daren.......

The rocket stove is a classic and may well turn into a usable backpacker stove with a little help from some stove makers.
