November Entry # 1 for Skids

Postby Skidsteer » Wed Nov 07, 2007 8:10 pm

I recently found some unusually beautiful containers that fairly screamed to be made into Supercats. They are anodized and have a burnished brass/copper sort of finish.

Makes workhorse of a stove, too. Two cup boil in 3:30.

I made a priming wick for it that many of you will recognize. ;)

Image

Here's how they fit together:

Image

On fire. I used a SnowPeak 900 to test and it's just a tad narrow, IMO. A 3-cup AGG or K-Mart grease pot would be ideal.

Image

Unexpected Bonus! The priming wick/ROF will boil 2 cups in 5:30 with 15 ml using a Rockstar pot.

Fabulous Skids.

I drool every time I see the blue color of the ring.

The anodized containers are a major find. Great find!!!!

You always make the sharpest looking stoves. Kudos to the max!!!!

P.S. The local Ace had no gasket material whatsoever :(

You know something cool about that Rockstar pot?

You know exactly when the water boils because the lid makes a sound like a bell when it rattles.

I'll have to try it with the one you sent me. Very interesting!!! Makes for a great tea kettle :)

Now here is the best part everyone!!!! Skids does'nt have his lid screwed on tight. That's why it rattles and sounds like a dingaling  :P

Skids, does the annodized gold container just act as a pot stand? Sharp looking!

Whoooa Zelph......after reviewing some post lately, maybe on another site, something was said about 180 degree starting H2O temps

P.S. The local Ace had no gasket material whatsoever

Zelph, not sure what kind of gasket material you are looking for but if it was to seal a lid of a tin, you might consider NAPA autogasket material----it would be hi temp---just a thought.
