November Entry #2 for Skids

Postby Skidsteer » Sun Nov 11, 2007 8:31 pm

The UFO Stove

Having fun with this one. :D

Stove and stand weigh about 6 grams(1 1/2 g for the stove). Two cup/half ounce boil in 14 minutes with an additional 4 minutes boiling.

Image

And.....The stove will hold up to an ounce of fuel!

Here's the burn photo:

It's cool how you find containers to make stoves :D

It looks like a lunar module that has sent out a fuel pod :D

Is it a Heinekin top that you use on the bottom of your pot? do you think the air space between the addon and the pot is increaseing your boil time?

Heh heh, add a simmer cap to the bottom your pot for simmering. I wonder!!!! :o

That part is a large cat food can, and yes it slows the boil somewhat but the stove is pretty slow all by itself.

Anyone want to take a stab at guessing the stove material?

Nope! :D

I'll give you all another visual hint. It's also used in this stove:

First to guess it wins the stove!

Ok Skids,
I'll take a crack at it.
By the coating in the container, it looks like it's a mini pie container. You said it holds UP TO an ounce of fuel. I'm assuming you mean up to the wicking holes.Yes? If not correct, may I assume that it is used in the HUMAN CONSUMPTION food service industry?

The outside container in the hint photo is a wedding favor tin. That makes the inner container small. Hmmmm, it's on the tip of my tounge but cant read it :D
