Now I know what it's like for a small dog to go for a walk around the block........a dogs eye view :D

Now take a look at this door retainer made from a magnet. Holds the door in the open position magnetically.

The small concave part could be attached to the camera and the other magnetic part can be attached to your hiking staff/trek pole. The magnets on these things are powerful. I used this device attached to a heliograph.

At first I thought, no way do I want a magnet near my camera, but that is brilliant. Nice find.

You can find styraphome pellets at most "Fabric" stores or "Hobby type stores" like say Micheals. But honestly a good quality zip lock bag inside a home made sewn fabric bag works great or just a zip lock bag with good old rice or beans inside of it work great. You can use the zip lock bag for a once in a while handy tripod but if you are intending to use it alot I would wrap that ziplock in a thick fabric cloth bag. Remember to not overfill the bag you want it a bit loose and sloppy to be able to mold it the way you want to when you use it as a tripod.

The guy with the magnet on or near the camera "Bad idea" digital cameras these days are all different and what works or does not harm one model camera may be a death to another camera. I am a photographer by trade for a full time living and have seen things damaged by magnets as far as camera bodies go. So I would be really careful.
