This is my first post on this site, just joined today. This is an easy mod to do on the Swiss Ranger. It gives you lots of storage that the original set did not have.

Great idea JOE. Do you have a history of the stove? Was it originally used to carry tea in the bottle and then heated up in the field when the troops were out doing some manuveres or something. It looks like a short term carrying container for liquids. I used a StarLyte burner to boil water in mine. Worked good after determining the right height to pot ratio......

Were glad to have your here JOE. Merry Christmas!!!!! Thanks again for the info on the cook system. It would be great to have the "Use" history behind the cookset.

Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays to everyone here on bpLite. This is a great site,I plan to hang out here when I have the time. Have a good day and thank you for the welcome!
I don't know the history on the Swiss Ranger. If I come across it, I will post it here on bpLite. The corked flask may have served as a canteen? My biggest Cons on the set is that it's top heavy and the cook pot diameter is quite limited.

I love this Cookset it is a poor man's kelly kettle
I burn Twigs/burn tea lite candles/and bought a mini Alchy stove called a "Gram Weenie of ebay that actualy fits through the hole
and holds 2 oz of alcohol, more than enough to Boil Water, for
tea and Ramen noodles.
I slice a couple of hot dogs and crush the Ramen,
then drop a tea bag in the Big container after poring the Ramen
and Hot Dogs in the Cup, and covering with Aluminum foil for about 4 Minutes.
it will also burn triox and Hexamine, or a small cap of alcohol.
from a beer bottle.

yep, it's a nice setup and they had them back instock, cheap at the Cheaper than Dirt page. I have a couple of them. Just in case I melt one down(Highly unlikely though) or One for play and One for show ! ;)

I agree! the set is well engineered. Heavy, but that's ok for other than lightweight long hikes. I really like. I was able to adapt a starlyte burner to it by raising it closer to the pot. It lends itself to fun experimentation

This cookset was designed to also be used with the Borde Bomb stove. Oops56 has a video of it in action. ;)
