your assembly of the stove is correct.
it is quite possible that i screwed up when i packed the stove.
there should have been two identical screens included in the stuffbag.
one is for the fire-grate, the second can be used as a grill or a spare fire-grate.

Okay, that's it. I got one grill.

I think everyone was rushing you to send it on. I am happy, as it is.

It packs up very nicely, and burns so clean I really don't have a big soot problem. I like the stove.

stove adjuster?

I am using it with whatever is available, little pinecones off fir trees. Sticks? I avoid pitch, because it "pops" and gets on really expensive pretty outdoor gear. I have seen "buffalo chips" but no dry "buffalo chips".

I was thinking of you-all here, and I photographed some cow-flop but I missed taking the picture of a classic dry cow pie.

The camera batteries were almost expended. I only had some "lame" rechargeable batteries.

What can I say? I will try to "do better".

How about zelph's favorite, on the forum anyway: "horse apples".

Montana has got dry "horse apples". Do they burn hot?

They would certainly "burn the shit" out of the MK1-UL.

Wait a minute! I don't want my food to pick up a bad odor!

I am using the MK1-UL for a "cheery camp" on a lay-over and for preparing food!

I haven't put a steak on the top grill, I don't have, but I might want to. That grill, if I had one, has to be clean.

I have considered skewering some kebabs and grilling them. I very much care, that the "food odors" are appetizing.

In fact, I have considered making little notches at the top edge so the titanium tent stakes don't slide around when I try out broiling kebabs.

I imagine you have some local hickory,mesquite,alder,apple-wood,or something a bit more appetizing laying around than road apples...although road apples on the skewers might cook the edges of your meat better... :mrgreen:

zelph, shall I post glorious color photos of the wet cow-flop?

There is loads of debris from scrub-birch trees on the lower slopes. I carry twigs to a higher or lower more clear or open country elevation. I won't have a fire even in a wood fire stove on the grassland.

I haven't seen hardwood species, except a maple tree here and there. There are the burned forests.

I only use the MK1-UL in designated camp sites, whether hiking, kayaking, canoeing or car camping. Okay, gravel bars on rivers and a wide sand or gravel shoreline.

Daren, do you have stoves on the shelf ready to ship?

Connie, have you been using yours lately while out and about/ Have you tried top lighting a batch as of yet?

This weekend I'll be testing the MK-1 original with batch loads that are top lighted. I'm hooked on the process, got to try all kinds of stoves to see the results. Call me addicted!!!! :lol: :lol:
