NPR story for stovies
Riding home last week, while listening to NPR, there was a segment on about Aprovecho http://www.aprovecho.org/lab/index.php and the work the organization is doing.

Figured the stovies here would get a kick out of it.

Thx for the link..
"People are not persuaded by what we say, but rather by what they understand."

Yes, lots of good info there, thanx for linx.
Was it Winiarski that came from sweden? Did the "small" fire thing in the woods so as not to be noticed by the "bad guys""There have been thousands of stoves programs; I'm familiar with hundreds of them," says Bryan Willson, a professor of mechanical engineering at Colorado State University. "And it's hard to identify programs that have been successful."

Thank you, for the link!
You can purchase a stove http://www.stovetec.net/shop/index.php? ... e7574pi8j3 to be delivered for a humanitarian project for $12.
BTW, an alcohol stove fire is a good way not to be noticed, if compared to a petrol based fire. Especially if combusion is complete. I can detect the odor, readily, if the combustion is inefficient.
Burning wood from a fruit tree, like cherry,in a small cooking fire produces practically no smoke. If wet, however, any wood will produce "white smoke" from the moisture.
I think those hexamine tablets burned in the military-style canteen cup and cooker were to not be noticed, but burning hexamine tablets have a strong odor.

Burning vertical stacked twigs is something everyone here needs to try. Very little smoke is produced. You gotta try it, one way or another.
There is bear in the woods, not beer. soon we'll be hearing of DIY "Beer Bags" and how high to hang them or how deep to submerge in the creeks

Hey Zelph,
You will have to visit us here in NY sometime for a hammock trip. There is indeed BEER in them thar hills. You just have to know where to "dig". Ordin is right, the empty cans are definitely easier to remove.

zelph,
Did you burn any dung, yet? I wonder how the wife would like that.
You could say it is being done as part of a humanitarian project, and not be lying.

Look at those doors:
StoveTec GreenFire Flex MK2

StoveTec GreenFire Flex-M MK2

Maybe a rocket stove could have an active ventilation hood and stovepipe for a hunter's tent?
