Hoz here
Hoz here
The Hoz is here. Over 30 years climbing, caving, camping and canoeing. I've had my physical infirmities, and I'm getting a little arthritic but I still love the outdoors.
I build alcohol stoves for my own use and make my own gear when I can or it's cheaper. I built a wood strip canoe and also a decked sailing canoe. I paddle/sailed the Pukaskwa Coast of Lake Superior (100 miles, wild and wooly), and have paddled a wild Canadian River to James Bay.
Looking forward to learning and sharing on this forum!

Welcome Hoz! Got any photos of the stripper?
Re: Hoz here
We're all glad to have you here. Caving sounds facinating, and dangerous
We should start a forum so the cavers here can tell of their experiences. I'd love to hear about them. I met a woman last year that had a large collection of artifacts there her grandfathers. He collected them over many years from a cave on his neighbors property He had exclusive permission to collect. He documented every piece and where he found it. A real life Indiana Jones type of guy.

The Millennium Stripper

in "action"

14' 6" solo, 58# (was 46 but I put a double bottom on afetr first season).
John Winters "Osprey" design. Eastern white cedar, ash gunnels, cedar and aspen decks.
Re: Hoz here
My caving days were in the 60's and 70's. I was "semi hardcore". Liked long endurance routes with plenty water to keep it interesting. We once spent 32 hours underground with only 3 hours for sleep. Saw some virgin cave in my time, helped map a large system in my home state. Bad knees now (probably from those 800' popcorn crawls) and carrying around extra pounds I don't get underneath anymore.

Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous!
